On Tuesday, 7 January 2025, H.E. Nassereddin Heidari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Thailand, who is also the Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, presented his letter of credence to H.E. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council (Prime Minister) in Naypyidaw (the political capital of Myanmar).
In this meeting the Chairman of the Executive Council of Myanmar welcomed the cceptance of the expansion of comprehensive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the two sides discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations, especially in the fields of politics, science, culture, economy and agriculture.
It is very worth mentioning that political and diplomatic relations between Iran and Myanmar dates back more than five decades, although Iranian and Shia presences in Myanmar dates back hundreds of years.
