Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Thailand
.
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Foreign Minister of Thailand, met Thursday, on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, and discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and the latest situation after the recent imposed war. In this meeting, referring to the always friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Thailand, the Foreign Minister of our country explained the latest developments in the region after the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran. Referring to the history of the United States’ breach of commitment to the nuclear agreement, he stated: “The Americans have betrayed the path of diplomacy twice in the past year and launched a military attack against Iran in the middle of negotiations.” Araghchi considered the changing positions of the United States, as well as the destructive role of some third parties, to be the most important obstacles to reaching an understanding to end the war, and emphasized: The condition for reaching an agreement is that the United States reaches the definitive conclusion that the goals it could not achieve through war cannot be achieved through negotiations, and it must refrain from making maximal demands. The Foreign Minister of our country also emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation among the countries of the region as a guarantor of lasting security and stability in the Persian Gulf. Referring to the economic consequences of the war and the sharp increase in the prices of oil, energy, chemical fertilizers, and other basic commodities, the Thai Foreign Minister emphasized that Thailand supports any initiative that contributes to stability, peace, and reduction of tension in the region. He also emphasized his country's determination to continue and expand Thailand's long-standing friendly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
