Joint meeting of the Iranian Ambassador with the Director of the Thammasat Institute of Regional Studies and the Al-Mustafa

On Friday, August 14, 2026, His Excellency Dr. Heidari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Thailand, in a meeting with the Director of the Institute of Area Studies of Thammasat University, presented a research plan on a comparative study of the philosophy of resistance economy of the martyred Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and the sufficiency Economy philosophy of the late His Majesty King Rama IX of Thailand, as well as a proposal for the participation of the Al-Mustafa Educational and Research Foundation in this joint project.
This tripartite meeting was held with the participation of Professor Thanyaporn Soontornthum, Director of the Institute of Area Studies of Thammasat University and his colleagues, as well as Mr. Sadr Al-Sadat, representative of the Al-Mustafa Foundation in Thailand, at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangkok.
At this meeting, the educational and research activities of the Al-Mustafa Foundation in relation to the publication and translation of various books into Thai and other activities of the Foundation in the field of holding interfaith dialogue seminars were explained, and a film was shown about the activities of Al-Mustafa International University including the faculties of political science, economics and management, and other Islamic sciences, and a number of books translated into Thai, were presented to Professor Thanyaporn Soontornthum.
The parties agreed on the following issues in this meeting:
- Pursuing a joint research project on comparing the philosophy of themartyred Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and the sufficiency Economy philosophy of the late His Majesty King Rama IX of Thailand, and holding a joint conference on peaceful coexistence on the teachings of Islam and Buddhism or any other jointly chosen topic;
- Concluding a joint memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Thammasat University and Al-Mustafa International University.
